Girls Inc. of Bristol is a non-profit organization in Bristol, Virginia that works with young girls in an after-school environment. They do a lot of great work for the community and provide a positive environment for their attendees. What they needed out of a website was a quick and easy way to keep their kids and parents informed about upcoming events and also share photos and other media.
I used Drupal for the core of the site, allowing me to learn a lot of the neat new tricks that were included in the newest release of Drupal 7. Since the staff all share so many duties, I tried to make the update process as simple as possible. The calendar and maps are both Google apps and the slideshow is embedded from a Flickr account tied into the Google account, requiring the use of only one username and password to update any of those. The Facebook widget is tied to their existing page, giving them an easy way to dynamically update content on their front page.
